The ranches in Carbon County suffer from repeated incidents of cattle rustling. Brian and Even come across the thieves stealing six of their livestock but are shot at and have to take cover.

Adam meets up with two of his former school friends who are in town for the forthcoming class reunion. Adam is very pleased to see them again, but becomes pensive and down-hearted when he realizes he doesn't have the high-flying careers they have. To make matters worse, he had to miss an important football match that Guthrie took part in, which particularly disappointed his youngest brother.
