Brian takes a second job at a lumber yard, but the extended hours he works takes a heavy toll on him in this episode, one in which Guthrie appears the least of all. In what amounts to his longest scene, at breakfast the next morning, after a particular long day the day before for Brian, Guthrie enquires as to what his new job is like, but Brian snaps back at him viciously.

After being injured in a car crash, Brian's colleague at work, Ben Shepard, gets out of hospital and returns home. He's shocked to see his mobile home sparkling and clean. "What is this?" he shouts. "Who done that?!?" Guthrie comes bursting out of the van, shouting "Surprise!" and the rest of his family quickly follows him. "It's probably so damn clean in there, I won't be able to find anything!" exclaims Shepard with mock displeasure.
