|I am twenty-nine years old.
But I grew up watching River's movies
since I was a kid.
I remember seeing Stand By Me so many times
when I was eight years old,
and that was the movie that most
impacted my childhood.
Even though I am from Mexico
I was living in Boston in 1993
doing senior year of high school there.
I knew a lot about River
and even I had read Siddartha by Hermann Hesse
a couple of years back...
My Own Private Idaho meant so much to me
that I was really sure River would make
a promising future career. A really big one.
The day he died I was in my host home in Boston.
I couldn't believe what had happened.
I really cried for him. Though I am a guy,
I am an artist and musician,
and what happened to River made me decide
to take more seriously things in my life.
