"The studio just releases all the obvious takes which will pacify the executives. Sometimes I do a take to pacify the executives and it winds up in the movie, and I'm kicking myself. I try to be dark and humorous. The studio doesn't understand it. The reaction is fear. 'Oh my God! Look at this!'"
