Although Carl Arbogast is an intelligent individual, he found school quite difficult. Hoping to alter his grades, he broke into the Oakland City School District computer and amended the data stored against him. His plan failed when his activities were detected by a group of computer experts/hackers who had been hired by the school board. This event was not all bad news for Carl. The leader of this renegade band of hackers, Martin Bishop, was so impressed by the young man's skills with computers that he asked Carl to join his team. Now 19-years-old, Carl is confident and sure of himself, but exhibits a tense, nervous twitch in stressful situations. He keeps his private life to himself but admits to being somewhat lonely and he longs for a strong relationship with a loving, caring, and preferably "older", woman.
