This film included the first love scene in River's career. "Is my mother going to be upset about this?" he said during filming - both River's parents were away supervising his brother and sister who were starring in Russkies. "He'd approach Ann Magnuson like a puppy sniffing at some weird plant," director William Richert said. Despite almost the entire female cast propositioning him at every occasion, River remained faithful to Martha Plimpton saying, "I'm the monogamous type." When his girlfriend visited the set the two seemed impossible to separate.

Also starring in this movie is a young Mathew Perry who would go on to experience great success in the hit television show Friends.

Seducing the Reardon men in this movie, actress Ann Magnuson plays the part of Joyce Fickett. Ten years later, she would be cast alongside River's sisters, Rain and Summer, in the 1998 movie I Woke Up Early The Day I Died.

Magnuson also went on to recreate her rich-widow/man-eating character for a 1997 episode of the CBS situation comedy Caroline in the City.
