OPENING ANNOUNCEMENT STORY

"THE MOSQUITO COAST," STARRING HARRISON FORD, TO OPEN HERE

"The Mosquito Coast," a new adventure drama starring Harrison Ford, will open here on___________________ at the _________________________________ theatre(s).

Based on Paul Theroux's 1982 best selling novel, "The Mosquito Coast" is the exhilarating dramatic film of how a family's quest for paradise becomes a terrifying fight for survival. It was filmed on location in the small country of Belize on the Caribbean coast of Central America.

The picture reunites Harrison Ford with director Peter Weir after "Witness," for which both received Academy Award nominations. "The Mosquito Coast" provides actor Ford with his most challenging dramatic role to date--stripped of the romantic trappings of his previous portrayals. Helen Mirren, River Phoenix, Conrad Roberts, Andre Gregory and Martha Plimpton also appear in the film.

Jerome Hellman ("Midnight Cowboy," "Coming Home") produced the picture from the screenplay by Paul Schrader ("Taxi Driver") based on Theroux's novel. Saul Zaentz ("Amadeus") served as the executive producer. Other members of "The Mosquito Coast" team who received Academy nominations for "Witness" are director of photography John Seale, composer Maurice Jarre and editor Thom Noble, who won the coveted award.

The Saul Zaentz Company presents a Jerome Hellman Production: Harrison Ford in "The Mosquito Coast." Also appearing are Helen Mirren, River Phoenix, Conrad Roberts, Andre Gregory and Martha Plimpton. Directed by Peter Weir, the Warner Bros. release was produced by Jerome Hellman from the screenplay by Paul Schrader, based on the novel by Paul Theroux. Saul Zaentz was the executive producer, John Seale, the director of photography, and Thom Noble, the film editor. Music is by Maurice Jarre.
