A long time ago
When I was a child
Not so much in age, but in spirit
When innocence abounded
And my heart was full of dreams
I heard the news
That one of my inspirations had been taken away

It was sad
But it didn't hit me at first
I waited to be alone to share my grief with myself
The way it had always been
No one to grieve with
No one to share with
One alone
With so many thoughts...

Years later it would hit me again
And I would feel the pain
Even fresher than it had been
I yearned for things never seen
I cried for one I never really knew
And I desperately wanted...
To know him
To be like him
To live...

But like all dreams
Life interferes
And we are left with reality
