Silent Tongue has always been one of River's more difficult movies to track down, suffering at it has over the years from a rather lackluster distribution and decidedly low-key promotion so it is great to see the film out on DVD format. Again, it's a rather limited release though with the disk locked such that it will only play on region 1 players.

It therefore comes as no great surprise to find that there are no extra features on the DVD at all - no commentary from director Sam Shepard and no deleted scenes. With three out of four of the top-billed cast members having now passed away, it would at least have been nice to find just a bit of information about the remarkable lives and the various contributions that each of those cast members made to the world of cinema.
